Kitchen Storage Hacks

No matter how large your kitchen is, you can always use a little more space. These smart kitchen storage hacks will help you get the most out of this important room:

  • Hide your trash can in a bottom cupboard. Not only does this help you keep your trash can out of view, but it also frees up space in your kitchen for other important things.
  • Use a pegboard organizer to organize your large kitchen utensils, knives, towels, potholders, and anything else that you might need to hang. This will free up some space on your counters and in cupboards and drawers for other items.

Bathroom Storage Hacks

Bathroom storage is certainly a luxury, but with these smart bathroom storage hacks, you can make sure that your powder room stays neat and organized:

  • Add some floating shelves to your bathroom. Not only does this help add some extra storage, but it can free up limited floor space for other things you may need like a trashcan or bathroom scale.
  • Install some hooks on the wall to hang towels, robes, wet swimsuits, and anything else you might need to dry. Hooks are relatively inexpensive and a great alternative if you do not have towel racks or bars in the bathroom.

Southern California Air Quality: How to Keep Your Rancho Cucamonga Home Comfortable

Many individuals take the air inside their homes for granted, not thinking about how outdoor pollution and chemicals can impact their home comfort. However, pollutants and particles from the outdoors can easily make their way into your home and start to impact your family’s health. Below, we’ll cover what you need to know about air quality in Southern California.

How to Measure Air Quality

Air quality is measured using the Air Quality Index (AQI). This index measures how air pollution can affect an individual’s health in the short-term. The AQI takes into account ground-level ozone, particle pollution, and different chemicals like carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide. The measurement is provided on a scale of 0 to 500 with the following categories:

  • A Good measurement is anywhere from 0 to 50 is. This means there is little to no health risk presented.
  • A rating between 51 and 100 is Moderate. This means that there may be a moderate health risk for those who are particularly sensitive.
  • Unhealthy to Sensitive Groups is a range between 101 and 150. This value indicates a high health risk for children, the elderly, and groups that have heart or lung disease.
  • From 151 to 200 is Unhealthy. This means that it is a high health risk for all groups.
  • Very Unhealthy is any value from 201 to 300. This means a high serious health risk for all groups of people.
  • A Hazardous rating is anywhere from 301 to 500. This type of air poses a serious health risk to the entire population.

Though air quality varies between seasons and can even change day-to-day, it is important to be aware of the AQI, especially if you or one of your family members is part of a sensitive population.

Southern California Air Quality

Air quality in Southern California is typically at its worst from late-spring through the summer. In the Rancho Cucamonga area, the AQI is typically between Good and Moderate throughout the year. This means that if you or a family member are part of a sensitive population, it is important that you check the air quality before participating in strenuous activities outdoors.

In order to ensure that the outdoor air quality does not begin to affect your indoor air quality, it is important to take certain measures to ensure that your home is free of pollutants. One way to do this is by checking your air filter regularly, and changing the filter when it becomes dirty or clogged. The air filter helps capture many of the particles that enter your home, but if it is clogged, it cannot work properly.

Another way to combat pollutants inside your home is by installing an air purifier. Though this HVAC product may not be necessary in every home, those who are sensitive to pollutants may use an air purifier to improve the quality of their indoor air. If you or someone in your home suffers from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues, an air purifier might help you breathe easier. Homes with infants and elderly family members may also want to invest in an air purifier as these populations are more susceptible to illness from outdoor air pollution.
